Our clients wanted to turn their rather drab back yard area into a great place for their family to be together and for outdoor entertaining. They wanted the screened porch to be a place they could enjoy in the rain as well as for 3 seasons. Our solution was to build the new screened porch to the specs drawn out by their landscape designer. They also wanted us to replace a window with a new patio door so they could easily access the screened porch from the house. Along the way we added “shake” style siding for color/contrast/and style. We also ended up adding insulation so that they would be able to use the porch for 3 seasons.

One special feature of this porch is a nifty system that allows the screening to be closed with a heavy-duty clear poly cover so that the room can be enjoyed in cooler weather – and even in the winter with the use of an outdoor space heater. Another very practical addition is the large amount of storage space created under the new porch. Finally, we added some siding detail to the rear of the home. This project was done in conjunction with a fine landscaping contractor who installed the hardscape and shrubbery.

We built the new porch on a Techno Metal post foundation which allowed us to start the project quickly and build with no digging needed.

We love the new space and use it almost every day. The addition of the shake siding made it feel more like a “room.” It’s like we discovered this whole new part of our back yard and our home, and feels like we’re on vacation whenever we’re out there. Travis Eby – Homeowner
